Career Development Session 2 : Transitioning to a Career in IT | New
In December 2025, we successfully delivered a targeted Career Development Session focused on Transitioning into a Career in IT. This practical and empowering session was designed to support individuals exploring entry-level opportunities in the IT sector, particularly those seeking affordable, realistic, and sustainable pathways into technology roles.

The session aimed to enlighten, empower, and guide participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully transition into an IT career path, regardless of prior experience or background.
Delivered as part of our wider Employability Skills Project, the session brought together participants from diverse backgrounds who are eager to reskill, upskill, and access new opportunities within the rapidly growing IT industry.​
HOW THIS SESSION HELPS
This session helps participants:

Understand the basic skills required to enter various IT career paths, including entry-level and beginner-friendly roles.

Explore different pathways into IT, with a focus on the lowest-cost entry routes available at the time of the session.

Identify key considerations for choosing the right IT path, based on personal strengths, career goals, time commitment, and visa status.

Learn how to prepare and tailor CVs specifically for IT roles, supported by real-life examples and practical guidance.

Gain tips and proven strategies for securing more IT interviews, including how to stand out in a competitive job market.

Develop confidence through interview preparation guidance, covering both technical and non-technical IT interview expectations.

Understand the role of Artificial Intelligence in IT, positioning AI as a tool rather than a barrier, reinforcing that IT professionals who use AI effectively replace those who do not.

Access practical guidance on how beginners can learn and grow with AI tools throughout their IT journey.

Gain clarity on the impact of visa status and visa types on IT career transitions, including a summary of visa-safe IT roles.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with a clearer roadmap, practical resources, and renewed confidence to take actionable steps toward an IT career.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
This session was delivered as part of our ongoing commitment to empowering the local community through the Employability Skills Project. Participants included career changers, graduates, job seekers, migrants, individuals on different visa routes, and those looking to future-proof their careers through digital skills.
The session created a supportive and inclusive learning environment where participants could ask questions, share experiences, and gain reassurance about their transition into IT. By breaking down barriers, dispelling myths, and highlighting realistic entry points, the project continues to help community members take meaningful and informed steps toward long-term career growth in the technology sector.
